Episode 7: How the Internet has changed, is changing, and will continue to change MLMs and other Online Businesess.

It's no secret that the Internet has changed the lives of millions of people. It will continue to change the lives of people as long as it's around, in some form or another. It's also no secret that marketers saw the potential in the World Wide Web early on. We all know the cliches of why MLM in-and-of-temselves are "Doomed To Failure", and today, we're going to see how the Internet has changed MLM into a sucessful business model.

The Recruitment Element.
When your neighbor, church member, friend or loved one joined an MLM, you were usually one of the first to know about it. They hit you - and hit you hard - with the sales pitch they had just learned. Now, you're either going to try to bow out of the conversation, or you're going to end up spending money with them. Before you knew it, you were recruited into the same program as they were in. You, and the rest of your friends, too. Now the problem is one of Saturation. Everyone you know is in the program. Nobody you know wants to buy anything from you (since they can get it at "cost"), and you can't sign anyone you know up, (because they're all in the program). Now you're not making enough sales to make your commissions, and the whole thing starts falling apart.

In today's world, the Internet allows us to reach a broader market. We can put up a website, share our message with more people from around the globe - not just our friends and families. Now we can compete on a much bigger playing feild. Market saturation will not occour. We're not having to sell or recruit any of our friends or family.

A friend of mine has recently lost a bunch of weight. I asked him the other day if he had a tape worm. He laughed, and told me about a cleanser he'd been taking. Obviously, it was working for him. So, I asked what it was, so that I might try it myself. He told me he would be glad to order me some. This is when I asked him if it was an MLM thing. He said yes. We talked about that aspect of the deal. I let him know about my level of expertise form behind the scenes, and we talked about that. Now, he's got a website up, and is talking to people in online forums about his product. The key here, is that my friend did not approach me with the MLM Recruitment speech. He did not try to sell me. I asked HIM all the questions, and have now directed him in how to Erupt his MLM business using the Internet.

The Product Element
The Online Business you're in tells you, "The more people you recruit into your downline, the more money you will potentially make from their sales." You immediately seek new individuals to work with. You start calling yourself a team leader. You learn the "Pitches" to bring new people on board with you. You tell them that they too can make more money by bringing on more people. They, in turn, do as you've done, and seek new individuals to work with. Then, someone recruits a person who believes that they can "Get Rich Doing Absolutely NOTHING". When this doesn't happen, they complain. They complain to anyone who will listen. They complain to friends, family members, to people in online forums, and then, finally, to the attourney generals office. This opens and investigation into the company, and the whole thing starts falling apart.

People tend to forget the fact that in order for an MLM business to survive, they must sell something tangible. With E-Commerce being widely accepted as "the norm" today, selling products has never been easier. When you want to buy something, you look online, find it, and purchase it. It shows up a few days later, and everyone is happy. The sales person of today doesn't need to make as many cold calls or visits to sell a product as they did before. They, again, simply put up a website, get traffic to the website, and sell their product. Of course, smart sales people will also have a link on their site for people to join the program.

The Ethical Element
When you first joined the MLM, you were presented with a "Fast Start" option. If you could bring on 5 more people within the first month, you would get a nice bonus, and it would REALLY kick start your business! You only got involved with the MLM because you want more money, and wow, a bonus sure does sound nice. Now, who can you sign up? What can you tell them in order to get them involved? "Oh, yeah, it's doing GREAT!", "It's a GROUND FLOOR OPPORTUNITY!", "This is a wonderful company to work with!" You're calling your friends - and while you "can't tell them about this over the phone, it's just TOO exciting", you'd love to "schedule some time with you so I can show you this - it will only take 20 minutes, when is a good time for you?". You're doing well. People are joining. You're on your way to your big bonus. But, wait... you now find out if you can bring those 5 people on board at the GOLD level, you can DOUBLE your bonus! Back the the phones you go. This time, your friends aren't so sure... now they want time to discuss it with their significant other. In fact, they're thinking of not joining the MLM at all... they did some homework, and they don't like what they found. What did you try to get them involved with, anyhow? The word spreads, and the whole thing starts falling apart.

On the Internet, since you have a wider based audience, you don't need to scramble to get friends, family, and loved ones involved. You can purchase business leads online, and send them a well crafted email - by well crafted, I mean NOT SPAM. You can also purchase business leads that include Name, Phone Number, how much they have ready to spend, when they want to start, and the best time to call them. You spend a little time writing an email, a little time on the phone, and you've gotten your message out to enough people that you don't have exaggerate anything. Your ethics aren't called into question. And your business will do well. By the way, if you do need to purchase credible leads, you can do so at my website, http://www.mlmeruption.com

In the past, my business partner and I provided a selling report to a group of people. We asked them before hand to evaluate their current business, and after we presented the group with the selling report, we again asked them to evaluate their business. Not a single person indicated anything less than a successful up turn of their business. Sometimes, it's not what you know, it's how you present it, and who you present it to.

The Internet will continue to grow. Hundreds of Thousands of people will sit down, TODAY, and get online for the very first time. People will upgrade to higher speed access, and people will buy more computers. Any business that wants to grow and succeed will use the technology that the Internet has brought us, and will continue to bring us.
